Trailer tandem axle has two sets of single axles placed in close proximity to each other to help disperse the weight load of the cargo. The extra axle allows the trailer to handle more weight and to be more stable at higher speeds and highway conditions. Although tandem axle costs more money than single axle, the extra upfront cost may be worth it in the long run.
